To succeed in the global economy today, more and more companies are relying on a geographically dispersed workforce. They build teams that offer the best functional expertise from around the world, combined with deep, local knowledge of individual markets and cultures. At BBVA, we do the same. We draw on the benefits of international diversity, bringing together people from many cultures with varied work experiences and different perspectives on strategic and product challenges. All this helps us compete and continually innovate in the current business environment.

But when team members come from different countries and functional backgrounds and are working in different locations, challenges in communication and understanding quickly arise. Through the conversation and workshop, we will discuss our process at BBVA to create product using a global team, the challenges that it presents, and the tools and methods we leverage to effectively collaborate at a global scale.

Outline

  • Importance of working globally
  • Challenges working between countries
  • Tools and methods that alleviate those challenges
  • BBVA use case
  • A fun, light workshop that simulates the challenges of working globally and tasks participants to efficiently collaborate at a “global scale”

Target audience

Brian Farrell

Executive Creative Director
My background is a hybrid of traditional branding and digital experiences. I started out in New York City working for two small design studios developing my craft as a designer, working with some amazing Creative Directors on identities, packaging and all-things print related. I later made the move to digital and had the great opportunity to work for both SapientNitro and AKQA. I am currently the Executive Creative Director at BBVA creating and managing multi-disciplinary teams, responsible for the strategy, development, design and execution of creative ideas across our global network.
